Day
01: Arrive PARO
On
arrival at Paro airport, received by Snow White representative and transfer
to the hotel. After lunch visit Taa Dzong, Bhutans national museum, which
has a collection of ancient Bhutanese art and artifacts, weapons, stamps.
Rinpung Dzong, built in 17th century, which now houses the monastic
school and the office of the civil administration. Overnight at the
hotel in Paro. Evening visit to Paro town. Overnight at the hotel in
Paro.

Day
02: PARO
To check your resistance we shall begin with small hike
to Taktsang temple. The walk uphill will be not more than two hours. The trail is
broad. At the view point there is a cafeteria. Have a cup a tea or some
juice here and then take a walk little higher to the closer view point
of Taktsang. Then walk back for lunch in Paro town.
Afternoon
Drukgyel
Dzong, the ruined fort, which once built to defended this valley from
Tibetan invasions. Mount. Chomolhari, the sacred summit reaches skyward
beyond the dzong and the traditional Bhutanese Farm House. Kyichu Lhakhang,
one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of Bhutan, dating from the
introduction of Buddhism.

Day
03: PARO - THIMPHU
Morning
drive downstream alongside the Pa Chu (Paro river) to its confluence
with Wang Chu (Thimphu river) then up valley to Thimphu, the capital
town. Few miles before arriving, Thimphu, see Simtokha Dzong, Kingdom's
oldest fortress which is now used as Dzongkha language school of Bhutan.
Memorial Chorten, built in the memory of Late third King of Bhutan.
Tashichho dzong, Thimphu's most impressive building situated at the banks
of Wang Chu. It now houses National Assembly, King's Throne room and
also the summer residence of Chief of monk body. Evening take a walk
in Thimphu market and town. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day
04: THIMPHU
Visit
the Painting School where centuries old art of Bhutanese paintings is
taught. National Library is another interesting place to visit, which
has a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts, manuscripts. Traditional
Medicine Institute where centuries old healing arts are still practiced.
Handicrafts Emporium where exotic weaves in silk, wool, cotton, silver
jewelry, carpets, thangkha paintings, bamboo ware and other traditional
crafts of the Kingdom are available. Evening drive to view point for
a fascinating view of Thimphu valley. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day
05: THIMPHU - GENEKHA (14 km, 4 hours)
Drive
for 45 min to reach starting point of the trek. The first day walk,
over a mule path, will end after four hours at the signboard of Genekha
School. All through the trail, terraced fields and coniferous vegetation
are abundant. Overnight camp at Genekha.
Day
06: GENEKHA GUR (15 km, 4 hour)
Todays
trek is through one of the most enchanting natural scenery amidst alpine
flora. Two hours of gradual uphill walk and rest at huge rock platform,
offers a picturesque view of the valley below. A further walk of about
two hours reaches to campsite at 3,350 where during spring there is
abundance of flowers.
Day
07: GUR LABATAMBA (12km, 5 hours)
While
trekking across the ridges, one enjoys the beauty of the rugged mountain
vegetation. Today's trek is amidst flowers and wild asparagus (in spring).
The meadows freshen the trekkers with poetic sentiments. The first pass
(4250m) symbolized by a huge Cairns gives a spectacular view of the
whole 'Dagala' range, meadows and yak herders camp. Lunch at nearby
yak herder's camp. After lunch walk across hills and meadows, ending
the third day of trek. Camp near 'utso' lake where golden trout flourish.

Day
08: LABATAMBA-PANKA (8km, 4hrs)
A
short upwards walk of half an hour and later descent presents majestic
view of Himalayan peaks (alt. 4,450). The prominent peaks such as Mt.
Everest, Kanchenjunga, Chomolhari, Jichu Drake, Tsering Khang, Khangbum,
Masagang, Tsendegang and Gangchecn Ta can be view from here. Apart from
yaks and horses, Himalayan Monal Pheasants are a common sight en route.

Day
09: PANKA - TALIKHA (9km, 4hours)
This
day entails passing through several interesting passes. The area is
also known for different varities of Blue-poppy (June-July) and mountain
birds.The trek trail ascents along the western side of a lake to saddle
at 4,400m, where there are fascinating mountain views. Afternoon an
hours gradual climb brings you to the tip of last Dagala range
from where the view of Thimphu valley is superb. Further an hours
walk takes you to Talekha, the last camping place on this trek.
Day
10: TALEKHA SIMTOKHA - THIMPHU PARO
Walk
downhill on a steep, eroded trail to Simtokha amidst forests of rhododendron
and bamboo and apple orchards. Visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress
of the Kingdom built in 1627, which now houses the School for Buddhist
studies. Picked up by snow white representative near Simtokha Dzong
and drive to Thimphu. In the evening travel to Paro and overnight stay
there.
Day
11: PARO depart
After
early breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport for flight to onward
destination. |
